THE SACRED JOURNEY Part 7

THE SACRED JOURNEY Part 7

WHEN MORE IS NEVER ENOUGH

In the Sacred Journey Part 6, Will and Soul have a new identity and a new master, Sin. Sin taught them how to be independent of others and depend only on themselves. He introduced them to the pleasures of life without rules or boundaries. He deceived them by misinterpreting what their father in Sacred Meadow taught them that ‘The World’ was a bad place. Sin insisted ‘The World’ was a place to be your own boss and have a good time. He made them believe their father’s concern for them was not protection, but to control them. He offered them ‘The World,’ then gave them techniques for success so they could rule with him, Flesh, and the Evil One.

As the years passed, the siblings got acclimated into the culture of ‘The World.’ Soul worked hard and achieved greatness, popularity, and prestige. Sin was her new boss, while Flesh fulfilled her needs. Evil One created opportunities for Soul and her siblings and educated them in the most prestigious schools and placed them in jobs for them to succeed. The more money they made, the more they spent, then more was never enough. They were the envy of the city, billboards covered the streets with their names and achievements on them. Because of their notoriety, people called them and pursued them for attention and advice. Night after night, day after day, the siblings enjoyed parties, drinking, and indulging in whatever made them happy.  They were busy working hard, Pride and Success always escorted them through the cities. The siblings reached the pinnacle of success, what more could they need or want? The memories of their homeland, Sacred Meadows, dissipated in their thoughts and from their conscious.

After several years living in ‘The World,’ something strange happened, Emotion felt angry or sad every day. No matter how things were going, anger or sadness enveloped her heart. Emotion and Fear, Flesh’s sibling, became close, so wherever you saw Emotion, Fear was right there by her side. With Fear, came Anxiety, Worry, and Insecurity they became Emotion’s closest friends. Thinker was never alone either. Flesh made sure Pride, Confusion, and Chaos kept her occupied too. Sin and Rebellion stayed close to Will whether he wanted them to or not. He used Will to carry out his evil desires even if Will agreed to them or not. He also lied to Will and told Will he was in charge of his life, but the truth of the matter, Sin ruled him instead. When Soul saw the distress of her siblings, she felt helpless. Day after day she watched Evil One and his family oppress, use, abuse, and destroy the lives of the ones she loved.

One day, Soul talked to Evil One, Flesh, and Sin on what was happening to her family. “Evil One, I need to talk to you about how we are being treated, here in ‘The World,’ Soul said as sweat rolled down her face. We have worked hard to gain influence, power, popularity, and riches, but my siblings and I are not happy.” “Happy! What do you mean by happy?” asked Evil One. “You are so unappreciative because we gave you riches, prestige, luxury, popularity, and pleasures. And, you are not happy?” “No sir, we are not happy. We do not have joy, peace, contentment, and true freedom we deserve; we are your slaves!” exclaimed Soul. Evil One got angry and said, “We never offered you joy, peace, or contentment. That… is rubbish! Soul, you are delusional! You will never find those here in ‘The World’ or anywhere else I know of!” Soul did not realize what she longed for was the carefree joyful life she experienced in Sacred Meadow and to her surprise, she could never find joy, peace, or contentment for her siblings or for herself while focused on getting those needs met by ‘The World.’

Every day they lived in ‘The World,’ they grew fearful, anxious, worried, confused, weary, exhausted, lonely, discontented, angry, and aggressive. The siblings were frail, afraid, insecure, and sick due to the control that Evil One, Flesh, and Sin had over their lives. Soul, Emotion, Thinker, and Will were just puppets on a string doing whatever they were told to do . They were not living as they desired. The price they paid to gain ‘The World’ was losing their freedom and having more but it was never enough. How will they escape from being in bondage as slaves and healed of the sickness of the Soul?

THE GIFT of FREEDOM: In Part 7, the siblings paid an awful price to gain the pleasures of life. They felt happy only for a season, but when pleasures ended, behind closed doors, they were miserable. Sin and ‘The World’ always promises more than it can supply. It allures the soul with money, prestige, popularity, and power but once achieved, ‘The World’ and Sin dangle another new thing so one is always looking on the horizon for the next good or better thing. Then, the soul becomes driven instead of led, to fulfill its unmet needs.

Prayer:  Papa, we are so deceived by the voice of sin and the world. Its billboards, neon and LED lights, colors, lures for success, and feelings of grandeur always appear to be real, but they are lies.  Once our goals are achieved they are only shadows in the memories of yesterday then we search for something else. The soul remains dissatisfied and discontented. Papa, we feel trapped and blinded by lies of our own imaginations, believing freedom is having more, being more, and achieving more. Only you can set us free. AMEN
